Turning from the district scene to Region Four, state tourney hopefuls are springing up all over. While some teams have letter records than others, where tournarnent play is concerned, nobody can pick the winner.
Region Four is no exception. In District 13, New Prague, LeCenter, LeSueur, and Jordan are the teams to beat. In regular conference play, New Prague and LeCenter both hold 7-2 records, while LeSueur follows with 7-3 and Jordan with 6-3.
In District 14, undefeated West St. Paul appears to be a shoo-in.
District 15 is dominated by a strong St. Paul Central squad.
District 16 is another question. Mora with returning Benji Krawiecki and Dale Longworth should take it by rights. But an old saying goes, “A title gets heavier the longer you hold it.” And Anoka, Spring Lake Park, and Braham are only too anxious prove it.
For once, Red Wing is no longer favored. With West St. Paul, South St. Paul, and Hastings to stand off, Pete Petrich’s boys don’t seem to have too much hope.
